  • Sex increases levels of oxytocin and stimulating feelings of warmth and relaxation

  • Immediately before an orgasm, levels of the hormone oxytocin surge to five times their normal level.  This releases endorphins, which alleviate pains causing headache, arthritis, migraines.  In women, sex also prompts production of estrogen, which can reduce the pain of PMS.

  • In a study done at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital in Scotland, a panel of judges viewed participants through a one-way mirror and guessed their ages.  Those who looked seven to 12 years younger than their age were also enjoying lots of sex- 2 to 4 times a week.

  • In a 2001 Queens University study, researchers found that by having sex three or more times a week, men reduced their risk of heart attack or stroke by half

  • Vigorous intercourse burns about 200 calories- about the same as running 15 min on a treadmill.  Intercourse works the pelvis, thighs, buttocks, arms, and neck.  Sex also leads to the production of testosterone.  Testosterone promotes stronger bones and muscles.  Men's Health magazine has gone so far as to call the bed the single greatest piece of exercise equipment ever invented.

  • Studies by Columbia and Stanford Universities found that women who have intercourse at least weekly, cycle more regularly than women who do not have sex as often

  • Wilkes University in Pennsylvania sys individuals who have sex once or twice a week show 30% higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A, which is known to boost the immune system
